Souma Nakai
Age: 26
Height: 5'8
Weight: 140lbs
Village of Origin: Konohagakure
Rank: Jounin
Chakra Affinity: Doton, Fuuton
Special Abilities: Can absorb chakra via physical contact
Personality: Souma Nakai is a commonly calm and collected individual. Rarely does he express emotions in a grandiose fashion, a small smirk, a furrowed brow, and the like, are much more common sights on his face. He is known to be a fairly cynical, sadistic individual as well, with a distasteful view of the frailty of human life. He would do anything that he believes to be in the best interests of Konohagakure, unhindered by any moral implications. However he is known at times to be arrogant, due to his prodigious shinobi abilities, even from an early age. He is not known to make emotional attachments (anymore) with students or teammates, though that does not mean that he lacks interest in seeing progress his protégé’s or associates might make.
Character History: Born in Konoha, Souma lost his parents when he was only three years old. Detesting living in an orphanage pushed him to join the Shinobi Academy as early as possible and thus he was allowed entry at only five years of age. Souma stood out as a genius — his talents, knowledge, and determination were considered to be that of a prodigy. He showed exceptional skill in Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, as well as Chakra control. With well-rounded Taijutsu skills as well he graduated the academy at the age of seven, after only two years, an exceptional shinobi among shinobi. His abilities gained him the attention of a particular Jounin who recruited Souma to be a part of his four man squad. This man was none other than the one who would go on to become the Nidaime Hokage.
Souma flourished under the tutelage of the future Nidaime, the man himself a genius in his own right, and this was the best period of young Souma’s life. He went on missions with his team, learned new jutsu, and even got to the point where he could have called his squad mates and sensei friends, but it was not to last. At the age of thirteen, on a mission to scout the Land of Lightning, Souma and his squad were captured. His sensei was able to break out of captivity and save him, but not before his two squad mates had been tortured to death. At this point in time Souma himself was a Jounin, so he withdrew himself from the Nidaime’s squad, having no desire to work with the man again. This was equal parts due to not being able to trust him as well as not being capable of stomaching being a part of his squad. The idea that his friends would be replaced and they would continue on like nothing had happened was despicable to him.
The years would continue and in this time Souma would delve deeply into the fields of chemistry, biology, botany, anatomy, and all things medical Ninjutsu. The Hokage, now his old sensei, respected his wishes to not be assigned to a shinobi squad. Souma would still do missions on his own, or assist others for the length of time the mission would take, but upon returning home he would be alone once more. It was during the passing decade that Souma became a bit of a paradox to his village, others were not quite sure what to think of him. He took to his new learnings and research as well as he did his shinobi skills and aided the village greatly via the development of new poisons and antidotes, he saved lives with his medical Ninjutsu. However he also began to display a sadistic personality, he would brutalize and torment enemy ninja. Others deemed this to be the unfortunate side-effect of the various traumas in Souma’s life, however they did not know how much the man had been changed. They did not know what his aspirations had become, what he would do to see them carried out. That was how he wanted it. If they knew what he intended to do, they would not understand, they would sooner see him exiled or executed. They could not be blamed for thoughts like this, they were only human.
Souma, however, soon will not be. The research he now begins if… when, it succeeds, he will transcend his human life. He will overcome his pitiful mortality. No cost would be too great to pay, no act to diabolical to commit for when this was complete it would mean he could repeat the outcome. He could give this gift to the rest of the village as well. He would save them from their humanity, their mortality, and he would do it whether they wanted it or not.
